LU'S PLACE
Lu's Place is a new, contemporary café located in Meltham, Holmfirth.
The café features 'The Glasshouse', an outdoor terrace with panoramic opening windows and a retractable roof, where diners can enjoy the stunning views of the Holme Valley. The outdoor terrace also includes a VIP pod which is a private oval-shaped pod with 360-degree views of the stunning scenery. Fully catering for their customers' needs, the café includes a number of special touches including an outdoor bootwash for walkers, bike parking for cyclists, dog drinking water trough as well as a dog menu, and even equestrian parking for horse riders.
OUR WORK
Vision Commercial Kitchens began work on the project after an introduction from the client's foodservice consultant at Tetras Hospitality. Vision's work included the design and fit out of the kitchen and servery, and whiterock walling. The kitchen space available was an extremely tight space for the menu and the number of covers. The design therefore required innovative thinking in order to ensure all the necessary equipment was included, whilst also ensuring that the kitchen had the correct flow. The kitchen would also be on display from the café seating area, and therefore had to look aesthetically pleasing.
OUR WORK
Installation took place in phases from the whiterock walling being completed at fit-out stage, to the equipment and kitchen installation, followed by the installation of the front of house counter. As this was a new building, there were a lot of trades involved carrying out lighting/ electrics/ flooring etc. There therefore had to be a lot of coordination between trades in order to keep to the installation plan and timings. Vision also powder-coated the exterior ductwork so that it matched the exterior building colour and blended in with the building's aesthetics.
After the initial project was complete, and the site opened, they were extremely busy. They therefore asked Vision to carry out some additional work to design and supply a separate drinks/bar counter. The positioning of the bar was to be against the side of the building, where the walls are made of glass. The design therefore had to be mindful that the wall at the side was glass when thinking about drainage to the new bar area and the aesthetics of behind the bar, as it would be visible to customers through the glass walls.
The finished café is a truly unique venue, which is proving to be very successful. The client's focus was on quality throughout the whole process, and the finished café and the food it serves certainly reflect this.
