The new kitchen based at Eleanor Rathbone House was to be used as a facility to teach how to use cooking equipment and practice preparing meals. The design of the kitchen was to be a hybrid style - with the look of a domestic kitchen but the robustness and durability of a commercial kitchen.

Hard finished wooden work surfaces were incorporated into the design alongside a heavy duty domestic underframe. Incorporated stainless steel work surfaces were designed in a rise and fall type making them accessible for wheelchair users. The finished kitchen is aesthetically pleasing and provides a very useful facility at Eleanor Rathbone House.
