THE CREAMERY

CLIENT: The Creamery

PROJECT LOCATION: Somerset | South West

A trackside restaurant and working creamery celebrating the golden age of the Great British railway. Under a 10-minute drive from The Newt estate, The Creamery is located at Castle Cary railway station, a principal gateway to Somerset and a main railway for Glastonbury festival travelers. The historic building is a community hub, serving travellers boarding or alighting trains from London Paddington and the West Country. Visitors can expect hearty dishes, grab and go, and a range of traditional soft cheese and yoghurt using fresh milk from the estate’s herd of water buffalo.

Vision Commercial Kitchens designed, supplied, and installed the catering and bar facilities at The Creamery. Our visually-led design process integrated a grab-and-go service, a restaurant bar, and an open-plan kitchen layout. This unique project focused on creating an immersive experience through its environment while enhancing the local culture, ensuring that every detail, from layout to equipment, reflected the community's heritage and culinary traditions.

This project took place in an old listed building, necessitating a thorough design and installation process, as well as specialist delivery due to its remote countryside location. Accordingly, every manufacturer was carefully selected by Vision, ensuring each component contributed to the desired effect. From heat lamps chosen for their performance and visual appeal to bespoke servery counters, every small detail was curated to perfection. The utilisation of high-grade stainless steel, welded, polished, and crafted into sleek, curved designs, further elevated the overall aesthetic. Additionally, Vision prioritised sustainability throughout the project. The extraction system was carefully chosen, opting for Cyclone Extractions, known for their eco-friendly operations.

“The kitchen space designed by Vision Commercial Kitchens has exceeded our expectations. The selected open-plan layout not only promotes optimal efficiency and functionality but also enables us to effortlessly meet the high demands of our

restaurant. The equipment selection, tailored to suit our menu requirements while prioritising energy efficiency, has further enhanced our workspace. Thanks to their expertise, we now have an exceptional environment to deliver the ultimate culinary experience for visitors at The Creamery.”
