CLIENT: Westbury-on-Trym Village Hall

PROJECT LOCATION: Westbury-on-Trym | South West

The committee at Westbury-on-Trym urgently needed to upgrade their kitchen facilities from what was essentially a domestic set up to a professional, commercial kitchen with the capability to produce in excess of 100 meals for the weddings and various other functions that take place within the Village Hall.

OUR WORK

The brief required Vision to incorporate various pieces of existing equipment into their re-design whilst also including new fabricated units. Further to this, the new equipment had to be simple and straightforwards in terms of its operation due to the skill level within the kitchen and the fact that multiple operators would be using the space at an given time.

From what initially seemed a simple brief, Vision took on a fairly complex project. Due to the client being a charity, there was a strict budget which had to be adhered to. The removal of wall of cabinets uncovered damp which caused an unexpected delay as the wall had to be damp proofed. Further to this, Vision undertook all electrical and plumbing work including gas and due to the nature of the site such elements were significantly below standard. Therefore Vision had to oversee the incoming supply being brought up to current standards. Vision managed all delays whilst working closely with the suppliers and manufacturers in order to meet the budget.

OUR WORK

This project was focused on making the space and environment of the kitchen more suitable for the needs of the client. Before the redesign the client had several problems around food storage space, food preparation space and the general flow within the kitchen. The client has since been left with a kitchen that has the correct flow and relevant space for food prep, creation and storage. In addition the new design means meals can be prepared for functions whilst the users from various groups which use the venue can also access and use the kitchen at the same time.

Vision had a total of 10 days to carry out all works, react to the unexpected damp and install the kitchen. There was a strict deadline for completion as whilst the work was being carried out the venue could not be in use for any events. Full training was offered on all pieces of equipment and the client was left extremely satisfied.

TESTIMONIAL

'Our old fashioned kitchen at our Village Hall has been transformed and modernised to a very high standard of efficiency.

The work was carried out within the time-scale and everyone involved in this project could not have been more helpful and were easily available. We would be pleased to recommend Vision Commercial Kitchens.'

- Henry Deval, Chairman, Westbury-on-Trym Village Hall
