Vision Commercial Kitchens completed work at Knole Academy, where we were tasked with providing a purpose-built training kitchen for students undertaking catering courses in their final years.
Working with the main contractor, Willmott Dixon, we designed and delivered a solution that met the specification within the required budget and enhanced the school’s facilities for hands-on learning.
Delivering a training kitchen for education
The brief focused on creating a professional-grade environment that would enable students to experience the realities of a commercial kitchen. Vision worked closely with both Knole Academy and Willmott Dixon to ensure that the installation was tailored to educational use, supporting teaching and learning while aligning with budgetary requirements.
Overcoming extract challenges
A significant challenge arose with the extract system due to the duct run length and overall complexity of the scheme. Vision's team designed and installed a solution that incorporated a large fresh-air preheater, ensuring safety, compliance, and reliable performance. Despite the technical challenges, the project was completed on time and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
Completion and handover
The kitchen was handed over fully commissioned and ready for use, with training provided for the end users. The final installation met all performance expectations, giving Knole Academy a high-quality facility to support its catering students.
