St Catharine’s College reclaimed an underground car park to create a new Student Union bar. Vision Commercial Kitchens realised the architect’s design intent, delivering a complete bar fit-out with equipment and a separate coffee area, so the space could open quickly and operate reliably.
Brief & design intent
The brief was to follow the architect’s design for the Student Union. Vision translated the architect’s concepts into a practical, buildable scheme that would stand up to student use while maintaining the desired look and feel.

Bar fit-out, coffee area and lighting
Vision supplied and installed all bars and bar equipment, including glasswashers and ice machines. A separate coffee area was delivered with both equipment and furniture. Colour and lighting were central to the design: multi-coloured LEDs made the bar a focal feature, with additional back-bar lighting for impact.
Programme & outcome
Despite wider programme delays on site, Vision remained responsive to changing directions and completed our scope within three days once access was available. The result is a robust, high-impact Student Union bar that aligns with the architect’s specification and the college’s operational needs.
