Westbury-on-Trym Village Hall is a popular community venue that urgently needed to replace its outdated domestic kitchen. The committee required a professional, commercial facility capable of producing over 100 meals for weddings and functions while also supporting day-to-day community use.
Vision Commercial Kitchens was appointed to design, supply, and install the new kitchen, delivering a solution that balanced functionality with budget.
Balancing new and existing equipment
The brief required Vision to incorporate several pieces of existing equipment alongside new fabricated units. Simplicity was key, with equipment specified to be straightforward to operate given the varying skill levels of kitchen users and the fact that multiple operators would need to use the space at the same time.
Overcoming site challenges
What began as a straightforward brief soon developed into a more complex project. Working with a strict charitable budget, Vision managed unexpected issues including damp uncovered during strip-out and below-standard electrical, plumbing, and gas infrastructure. These works were overseen and brought up to current standards, ensuring compliance and safety. Despite these hurdles, Vision coordinated closely with suppliers and manufacturers to keep the project on track and within budget.
A transformed community kitchen
The redesign resolved long-standing issues around storage, preparation space, and workflow. The new kitchen now supports efficient production for large functions while remaining accessible to the many community groups that use the hall.
Vision completed the project in just 10 days, providing full training on the new equipment. The result is a professional, flexible kitchen that has been warmly received by the hall’s users.
